Sephiroth Combat Guide

Sephiroth is one of the most powerful melee and magic attackers who can overcome most enemies with a variety of high-damage spells in his arsenal. He also yields sharp and deadly sword attacks that will make any enemy fall to their knees.

Sephiroth’s Initial Stats

There’s no doubt that Sephiroth is one of the most powerful characters in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Although players don’t get to walk around with him, he’s immediately available when going into battle.

This power soldier owns some impressive stats and specializes in critical hit damage, and magic attacks which allow him to end a battle quickly. That said, he isn’t the fastest character in the game but he does possess a solid amount of magic defense to ward off spells.

Weapons

Sephiroth's weapon

Sephiroth’s icon Masamune sword deals devastating melee strikes. Utilizing different attack combinations with precision will deal maximum damage to enemies. His sword is equipped with numerous special abilities such as the Zanshin and Hell’s Gate.

Basic Moves

Combination attack moves

Sephiroth is equipped with some fierce and fiery combinations. To perform a combination move on attack press □. You can also perform a slash and range attack on an enemy by holding in □.

Dodge enemy attack

To dodge an enemy attack press the circle button. You can also block an enemies attacking move with the R1 button.

Aurora Charge

Aura Charge

When landing normal attacks on enemies, Sephiroth will accumulate Aura which will enable him to perform Aura Charge attack moves. Before you can use these moves, the Aura Charge bar must be full. Sephiroth will lose all of his Aura if he is hit by an attack.

Telluric Fury

There are 5 Aura Charge moves that Sephiroth can perform. You can use the Telluric Fury move to perform a series of rapid slashes. Press △ after landing 4 normal attacks in a combo to activate the move, as seen in the image above.

Retaliation Stance

Retaliation stance

Sephiroth also has a defensive move that will deflect incoming attacks and nullify any damage done to him. To activate this move press the R1 button or block button. He will then enter into a block mode, and press the △ and command button for him to go into the retaliation stance.

Counter move

While in the retaliation stance, you can also parry an enemy’s attack. To parry an enemy’s attack press □ at the exact moment the enemy’s attack. Press △ after successfully parrying an enemy’s attack to slash them down with a counter move.

ATB Abilities

Zanshin and Hell's Gate

Sephiroth has two ATB Abilities in his arsenal, that being the Zanshin and Hell’s Gate. Both of these abilities have a two-part combination input, once you make your first initial attack it will then open up a second ability.

Zanshin Rising

Sephiroth’s special ability will send out two waves of energy from his sword at an enemy. Press △ afterward to perform the Zanshin Rising. This will then send out a third energy wave and damage the enemy.

Hell's Gate

Sephiroth’s second ATB ability is an impaling strike known as Hell’s Gate where he descends onto an enemy with his sword. Press △ afterward to perform Infernal Gate. This causes a large amount of energy to erupt where Sephiroth lands.
