Enshrouded is a harsh survival action RPG that doesn’t give you much in the way of direction, making it quite a challenge for any beginner… unless they look up some solid tips, like ours!

Knowing where to go, what to loot, and what to craft will make starting out your journey infinitely easier. Just so happens, that’s exactly the kind of advice we’ve got for you.

In this guide, we’ll give you some important beginner-friendly tips to get you started in Enshrouded.

Top Beginner’s Tips for Enshrouded

Find Longkeep and Loot It

As soon as you make your way out of the tutorial cave, you will notice a red light beacon off in the distance. It’s the quest marker for the tutorial quest.

Keep exploring Enshrouded

Follow it for a bit and you will eventually reach a small encampment by the name of “Longkeep”. Stop following the red beacon at that point and focus instead on looting the camp!

Club and Shield crafting

You will get Logs and Strings in the camp. You can use these materials to build your first weapon, a Club, as well as a Shield to protect yourself with.

This will make early-game combat encounters infinitely easier than trying to kill things with your bare hands!

Cloth blocks

Also, make sure to smack the big white blocks of cloth. They’ll take a bit to break down with your meager Club, but they are a good early source for Torn Cloth, which we’ll use later!

Follow the Tutorial Quest and Get Dripped Out

Once you’re done looting Longkeep clean, go back to following the tutorial quest until you reach the red beacon. But, while doing so, make sure to pick up any plants you find on the way.

You’ll get Plant Fiber from looting the plants, which you can then turn into String via crafting. Every 3 Plant Fiber will convert into 1 String, and you need to get at least 3 String!

Ragged Shirt craft

When you’ve got the Plant Fiber and String, craft yourself a Ragged Shirt. This will give you 17 Physical and Magical Resistance, making it quite a boon in the early game.

Once you’re geared up, follow the tutorial quest by getting 5 Stones and crafting a Flame Altar at the red light beacon. You can find the stones lying on the ground everywhere, so it shouldn’t take long to get them.

Try to Get a Glider Early

If you want to boost your movement right away, you would do well to get a Glider. It’s a basic craftable piece of equipment, you’ll just need to get the following materials:

  • Shroud Wood x8 – Obtained from Enshrouded trees. There’s a forest full of them northwest of where you set up your first base during the tutorial.
  • Animal Fur x2 – Dropped by wild animals, with rams being the most common in the early game.
  • String x2 – Obtained via crafting using Plant Fiber, as we explained in our previous point.
  • Shrouded Spores x2 – Dropped by Enshrouded enemies, you can find some in the cave near the start of the game.

If you want a bit more guidance on getting a Glider right away, we have a guide that takes you step by step on getting it!

Make Multiple Tools

If you plan to venture out far from your base, you should consider crafting multiple of your tools and weapons.

Sure, you can always repair equipment at no cost when using a Crafting Bench, but you might not get that luxury when you’re far away from your base.

Besides, it doesn’t cost much to make multiples of the basic equipment you have access to in the early game. At the bare minimum, try to carry around multiple Clubs so that you aren’t left empty-handed during combat!

Get the Berries!

Enshrouded: Top Beginner's Tips to Get You Started - Berries

Our last important tip for Enshrouded beginners is a rather simple one: harvest every berry bush you come across.

Berries make for a very good early-game snack, and they are plentiful all over Enshrouded’s world.

Sure, they’re not the most filling food item in the game, not by a long shot. But, you don’t get the privilege of choosing what to eat in Enshrouded’s early game.

So, in short, just make sure to get as many berries as you can while you travel!

Enshrouded: Top Beginner's Tips to Get You Started - The End

With that last beginner’s tip, you should now be ready to dive into Enshrouded’s fascinating open world. Good luck surviving out there, don’t let the Shroud consume you…
