Caves in this game are a very important location for farming resources. Ideally, you will want a cave very close to your base in this game. Resources like Iron are mostly found in caves, and you will need plenty of Iron throughout the game.
The Shore
You should also have the shore very close to your base. Having water near your base will allow you to build boats, fish for your village, and get Thatch, an extremely valuable resource that you will need a lot of later on in the game.

Wolf Dens
Wolf Dens are a great source of food and pelts in Aska. While you want to have a Wolf Den close to your base, wolves can be pretty dangerous early on.
Make sure that the Wolf Den close to your base isn’t too close. You want it close enough to be easily accessible, but far enough to protect you from enemy mobs.
