What was supposed to be May 26, 2026 has been moved to November 19, 2026. This means that we’ll have to wait an entire year to finally get our hands on the next GTA game.
For some developers, however, this could be a welcome change as the delay would give some games more breathing room when they release in the same window as GTA 6’s original release date prior to the delay.
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak admits that spring 2026 is now looking good as other games won’t have to go up against GTA 6’s release window.

As you might have known, 007 First Light is set to release just a few months away from GTA 6’s prior release date.
That would mean their studio would get a few months without having to contend with GTA 6, which is no doubt one of the most anticipated games of all time.
At the same time, Abrak also said:
“I want to say in the same breath that GTA 6 is a welcome thing for the industry. I do believe a lot of gamers who maybe haven’t played for a while will get into things again, and generally for the industry as a whole. I think that will be amazing.”
2026 is packed with a lot of solid titles from various developers, and publishers are also keeping a close eye on GTA 6. Anyone in their right mind would do their best to avoid releasing their game near GTA 6’s release date.
IO Interactive will be releasing 007 First Light on PC and consoles on March 27, 2026.
