Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is set to release digitally on PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), PlayStation (PS4 & PS5), and Xbox (One & Series X/S) on September 3, 2024. The Standard Edition won’t receive a physical release, but the Deluxe Edition will be available physically on November 8, 2024.

For those of you playing on Nintendo Switch, you’ll need to hold out a bit longer. There’s no confirmed release date yet for Switch, but it’s announced to release during the holiday season this year.

Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers can get the Standard Edition for free on PS4 and PS5. Just make sure to claim the game between Sept 3 to Sept. 30, 2024!

Deluxe Edition goodies

Speaking of the different editions, here’s what they all contain:

  • Standard Edition – Available only digitally and is the basic edition, including just the game. It will go on sale for $29.99 USD.
  • Deluxe Edition – Will be available first digitally with a delayed physical release, as we mentioned before. It will cost $39.99 USD and you’ll get the following bonuses with the game:
  • 4 House Pack DLCs, one for each of the four houses of Hogwarts. Each pack includes cosmetics for your character and Broom that represent the houses.
  • A bonus of 2000 Gold, which is an in-game currency you can use to purchase items. This isn’t a premium currency, though, as the game has no microtransactions announced. It’s the same currency you earn through just playing the game.

Aside from these editions, anyone who pre-ordered any edition will get the Firebolt Supreme Broom Skin.

The Basics of Quidditch

Basics of Quidditch | EVERYTHING You Need to Know BEFORE Buying Harry Potter Quidditch Champions

If you don’t know much about Quidditch and want to learn about it before buying Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, you’ve come to the right place!

Quidditch is a fantastical sport where teams made of 6 wizards (3 players and 3 bots in Quidditch Champions) ride their brooms to catch a ball called the Quaffle. Once they manage to catch the Quaffle, they have to throw it through one of the three hoops belonging to the opposing team. Each goal will score 10 points for the team.

Additionally, players will be constantly attacked by floating iron balls known as Bludgers. You’ll have to make sure to avoid these as you fly so that you don’t get knocked off your broom!

Draco Malfoy as a Seeker

Lastly, players will have to watch out for the Golden Snitch, a fast flying golden ball. Players who capture the Golden Snitch will earn 30 points for their team. Unlike the books, capturing the Golden Snitch doesn’t guarantee a win by giving the team 150 points. It’s more balanced, even if it’s less canon!

Custom player Beater

Now, which one of these aspects of the game is most important to you will depend on which role you choose to play. These are the following roles in each team:

  • Chasers – There are 2 of these in each team. They’re responsible for getting the Quaffle and trying to score goals.
  • Beaters – There are 2 in every team. They’re the ones who have to watch out for Bludgers and defending their team.
  • Keeper – The sole goalkeeper in the team, this player will stay in front of the hoops and try to block any Chasers from scoring.
  • Seekers – There’s only one in each team and this is the role Harry Potter is famous for. Seekers’ only goal is to try to capture the Golden Snitch.

Character Customization

Customization | EVERYTHING You Need to Know BEFORE Buying Harry Potter Quidditch Champions

Last but not least, it’s time to talk about who you’ll be playing as if you end up buying Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

Cosmetic Customization

Well, the good news is that you can play as both your custom character as well as fan-favorite characters from the books and movies. There’s a large host of cosmetic options for you to use and unlock, letting you make your very own wizard. Otherwise, you can use any of the Hero Skins to play as certain characters!

Broom Customization

Additionally, you can also customize your Broom. There are many Brooms for you to get, each one having different stats. You can also upgrade every Broom to increase its stats even further and apply cosmetic skins to give them unique visuals while keeping the stats.

Skills

Lastly, you will also earn Skill Points as you play the game. Use them to unlock special skills and upgrade your character’s stats, allowing you to customize your play style. What’s more, you can freely reassign Skill Points whenever you want if you want to change your strategy or your current setup just didn’t work out.

But well, that brings us to the end of our list of everything you should know before buying Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. Whichever edition you end up going for, you’re sure to get the most complete videogame adaption of Quidditch yet!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
