It’s been roughly 17 years since Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced, but due to its troubled development cycle, the game still hasn’t been released nearly 2 decades later.

And while there have been doubts about the game actually releasing at this point, it turns out that Ubisoft is still actively developing the game, as its recent job openings suggest.

If you head over to Ubisoft’s career page and search for Beyond Good & Evil 2, you’ll see a number of results indicating various job openings.

Among the most notable ones are the Lead Quest Designer and Technical Sound Designer.

Although there aren’t a lot of details going around regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2, the job openings do give us confirmation that the game is being developed using Ubisoft’s own Voyager engine.

In the job description, the Lead Quest Designer will manage a Quest Designer team and will work with the Narration and Design teams to create and implement the game’s narrative arcs and associated systems.

They’ll be the ones responsible for the main and side quests of Beyond Good & Evil 2, and they’ll also design an experience where choices matter and actions have consequences.

Meanwhile, the Technical Sound Designer will offer technical solutions for implementing audio systems for the game.

They’ll be under the direct supervision of the audio director in Ubisoft Montpellier.

Beyond Good & Evil 2’s Job Openings Indicate Ongoing Development

These recent job openings are no doubt good news for fans who have been patiently waiting for the game to even have the slightest chance of releasing.

After all, it was nearly a year ago when we heard anything about Beyond Good & Evil 2, when former Ubisoft designer Michel Ancel talked about the game being stuck in development hell.

Ancel is known to be one of the key figures in the creation of the prequel, and the departure of these key figures had a major impact on the game’s overall development.

Despite all the turbulence, the project still pushed through under the supervision of the newly appointed creative director, Fawzi Mesmar.

Back in June 2024, during the 20th anniversary of the series, Ubisoft mentioned that development for Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still actively ongoing.

So, it seems that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is back on the list of games that players can look forward to. It’s been 17 years after all, and fans of the prequel are dying to see its sequel finally released.

The question is, when exactly will it be released? That’s something that’s yet to be seen.
