Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to Get the Hylian Shield Early | Best Shield

When it comes to shields in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there is no other than the legendary Hylian Shield that is iconic to the franchise.

Since it is very strong and durable, obtaining it in the early game will give you a serious in-game advantage and make defeating bosses easier.

But before we move forward and explain where to find it, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve completed the quests that unlock the glider and skyview tower.

Let’s find out how to obtain the Hylian Shield hidden in a secret cave.

Hylian Shield Location in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

To start the hunt for the Hylian Shield we will go straight to Hyrule Castle. The Hylian Shield can be found in a secret well-hidden cave within the castle walls.

But in order to reach the castle you’ll need to get higher and glide on its walls.

So, the best place to start is the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower and launch into the air.

After you jump, make sure to dive toward the castle walls and wait until the very end until you deploy your glider.

The best thing about reaching the castle walls is that you only need a single wheel of stamina, which means that it can be reached even in early game!

Once you land on the castle walls, continue straight until the edge, where you’ll need to glide over to the different side.

Make sure to jump from the furthest edge just so you can reach the other side.

Once you reach the other side of the castle walls, you’ll need to drop from the edge onto a lower level, and from there you’ll need to drop to another lower level ledge which is the entrance of the hidden cave.

Enter the cave and follow the path down. You’ll eventually reach an open place where you’ll see a bunch of torches that need to be used in order to light the brazier.

You can either catch the fire from your arrow and shoot it or use a fire fruit.

Once you’ll light up the brazier, a chest will appear containing the Hylian Shield.

The Hylian Shield has a defense rating of 90 and very strong durability that won’t break even by many hits.
