There you are, spending another day exploring Dreamlight Valley and suddenly you receive a notification from the developers advising you to use your Dream Shards Wisely.

You scan through the message and you find out that there is a quest further in the game that would require a modest amount of Dream Shards to progress.

Due to balancing issues that the developers are currently fixing, many players are now having a hard time collecting these shards to advance through the story.

As compensation, The Devs have given you a gift of x25 shards to give you a head start. This comes with a recommendation to use your Dream Shards Wisely.

Most of the players in the game are using these dream shards to craft Dreamlight to add to their collection. Dreamlight is used for unlocking companions and other game content.

If you are doing the same thing we do, then now would be a good time to start holding onto these Shards and use them when they are absolutely necessary.

In this guide, we will show you how to get these Dream Shards for you to use as you progress along the Disney Dreamlight Valley Story.

How to Get More Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There is only one sure way of getting these Dream Shards. And that’s when you remove Night Thorns that creep up in the valley. Aside from actively hunting for these, you should also head over to your mailbox and get the x25 Dream Shard compensation that the Developers have sent.

If you have pre-ordered the game, there are a few dream shards also attached to the Founders pack award. You should head over and claim these if you haven’t done them yet.

If you are new to the game, progress through the story until you unlock the Orb of Friendship. Doing these quests would give you chances of getting a few Dream Shards along the way.

Unlock new areas and locations

Unlocking an area for the first time will give you an opportunity to get additional Dream Shards. Every unexplored location will have a number of Night Thorns that you can remove for a chance of shard drops but these are few and won’t drop most of the time.

Dream shards will drop only when you clear a set number of night thorns so be prepared to clear all of those right away.

Don’t convert Dream Shards to Dreamlight

One of the things that players had to learn the hard way is not to convert these shards to dreamlight. The Shards are very hard enough to come by and once you have access to crafting in the game, many players have been using the function to craft Dreamlight from these Precious Shards.

For now, these are the only places or tasks you could do to collect Dream Shards. Now would be a good idea to start hoarding them in your inventory and spend them frugally.
