The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just got remastered, and many players are surprised to learn that stolen items can be a bit annoying to actually sell. There is one way you can do this, and in this guide, we will be showing you exactly how to gain access to fences who can take hot products, as well as where every single fence in the game can be found.

How to Sell Stolen Items | Fence Locations

So, you have stolen a bunch of items and now your inventory is full of stuff that has that dreadful red hand icon beside them. Well, if you want to get rid of it, you must first join the Thieves Guild.

There is no way around this if you are looking to offload a lot of stolen goods. This is because being in the Thieves Guild will give you access to various fences all around the map. These NPCs are the only ones who will take your pilfered items.

In order to join the Thieves Guild, well, there are various ways to go around it. First, you should check out one of the Gray Fox posters all around the Imperial City to officially learn about his existence. Alternatively, somebody might give you a newspaper talking about him.

Once you know about the Gray Fox, walk up to any beggar and try to win them over by either bribing them or playing the persuasion minigame for a while. Eventually, they will give you information about the Gray Fox and the Thieves Guild.

The actual quest to join the Thieves Guild is pretty straightforward, and you should be able to get that done on your own. Once that is completed, the NPC who recruits you will now tell you all about the fences.

Basically, you gain access to a single fence at the start, and they have a decent amount of money that you can sell most of your stolen goods at this level with no issue. However, more expensive items will require better fences.

In order to unlock new fences, you will have to keep selling stolen goods to unlock the next special quest from the Thieves Guild. You need to keep doing this until your rank gets high enough to unlock the next fence, and you just keep going through this loop until all of them are available.

Each fence only has a set number of gold that they can offer you. This is not an amount that goes down whenever you sell something, it is merely an indication of the maximum amount you can get from them in a single transaction.

For example, Ongar the World-Weary has only a few hundred gold with him. If you try to sell him an item that has a value of a thousand gold, he will not be able to match that price as his limit is much lower than that.

As for where you can find each fence, here is a list of each of them, including where they can be found and how much they can pay for your stuff:

  • Ongar the World-Weary – He can be found at his house in Bruma. This fence has the lowest amount of gold among them at a measly 600, which should still be more than enough for any transaction by a low level player.
  • Dar Jee – He is an Argonian who can be found in Leyawiin. They have slightly more gold than Ongar at 800, which might still be pretty low for higher level players.
  • Luciana Galena – This fence can be found at her house in Bravil. She is the first fence who will carry four digits worth of gold, though it is exactly at 1000.
  • Orrin – This fence resides in Anvil Castle, and you might have to look around a bit as he tends to roam every now and then. He carries 1200 gold with him for each transaction.
  • Fathis Ules – Finally, this man is found within the Imperial City’s Elven Gardens District. He has the most amount of gold at 1500, and it requires you to reach the second highest rank of the guild.

And that is pretty much everything you need to know in order to start selling stolen items, as well as who you can sell them to and where they are found in the game. Long story short, you are going to be doing a lot of questing and stealing in order to get the best deals.
