Power To The People: Which Is The BEST Starting Location? | Main Campaign

“With great power, comes great responsibility.” Is a quote we’re all familiar with but fits very well for this challenging sandbox-puzzle game that puts you in the position of an electric company CEO who needs to provide power for cities as they expand.

What sets Power To The People apart from most sandbox games is that it requires critical thinking and layout planning as the cities pop up randomly from your starting location. It has certain puzzle elements that are not present in games of the genre and can prove pretty hard for those who thrive on gung-ho oriented playstyles.

With that said, terrain is one of the factors that can make or break your gameplay as putting your own power plants and substations takes a lot of real-estate consideration.

Which is the BEST Starting Location? – Power To The People

If you’re starting a new campaign, there would be three locations available to you indicated by a lightning icon at various parts of the in-game globe.

Each of the locations offer different difficulties and strategic points of which power plant to build whether you take advantage of the body of water, wind, or land resource to find your source of electricity.

The three locations are namely Jakobstad in Finland, Vejle in Denmark, and Siem Reap in Cambodia.

For this particular scenario, taking into consideration the pollution, costs to maintain and general accessibility of the location, we have chosen Vejle in Denmark as the best starting location powered with Wind energy.

Vejle, Denmark:

PROS

  • Wind turbine energy, low costs, and low pollution rate, low NIMBY radius and minimal ramp-up time.
  • Ample landmass, more leeway in making other power stations other than wind turbines without the risk of running out of land for new cities to pop up
  • Low starting cost with more room to upgrade after establishment

CONS

  • No electricity when wind stops blowing, will not be a problem as Vejle is a windy place

In conclusion, if you are a beginner at the game or with resource management games like this one, the safest place to start with would be in Vejle, although the other starting areas also offer good incentives, it is much easier to begin your journey here and move on to other places once you get the hang of the game.
