Now that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has just been remastered, many players who have not touched the game in a long time, or at all, are being reminded or learning about how horrible it can be to live as a vampire in this game. Luckily for you folks, this remaster also includes all of the DLCs that the original had, and one of them will help you fix this problem. Here is how to get it done.

How to Cure Vampire (No Quest) | Elder Scrolls IV

In the original game, you could buy the Vile Lair DLC or already have it as a part of the Game of the Year edition. Luckily for people who are coming into it from the remastered version of this old game, every single expansion and DLC are included right from the start.

Now, Deepscorn Hollow is the name of the player owned property that you gain access to as a part of the Vile Lair DLC. As soon as you start the game and exit from the sewers, you can already head straight to this place and access most of its base features.

If you have become a vampire, whether intentionally through the Dark Brotherhood or by getting attacked by one out in the wilds and failing to treat your condition, you have a few options. First, you can go through a very long quest to fix it.

If you do not want to do this long quest, you just need to go to the southeast of Leyawiin. In the marked spot of the map image below, you will find a ruined building over the water. Dive in and look for a tree trunk, which is concealing a door to Deepscorn Hollow in it.

As soon as you enter it, head to the Deepscorn Cloister to your left. Once inside the cloister, all you need to do is enter through the doorway to your left once more. This will lead you to the southern room.

In this room is a large pool of water with a sort of obelisk in it. This is the Font of Renewal. At one corner of the cloister is a deposit of purgeblood salts, which you will need in order to use the Font of Renewal.

By activating the Font of Renewal, you will get the option to cure your vampirism. Simply click on “Yes” and your vampirism will now be gone. That is really all there is to it, there are no other complicated steps or quests to follow.

Just so you know, the purgeblood salts do respawn after a few days have passed. In the event that you become a vampire again in the future and do not want to do the quest still, then you can just head back in here and use the font again.

And that is all you need to know in order to very easily cure your vampirism without going through any long quests or just sucking it up and living as one throughout the rest of your character’s life. While you are here, consider checking out our character creation guide for Oblivion Remastered.
