Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 – The Best 5 Axes in the Game

Hack your way through groups of enemies with these five axes that you can acquire!

on

There are a lot of different weapon types that you can try out in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and among them are the axes. Historically speaking, these are probably some of the most common weapons among the peasants as swords were often too expensive or even illegal for them to use back then. In this list, we will show you some of the best ones you can get in the game!

The Best 5 Axes in the Game

As far as axes go in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, they are incredibly easy to find as these are some of the most basic weapons during the middle ages. Even the poorest peasants back then probably had one of these laying around, so you should have no trouble getting one in the game.

With all of that in mind, we will mention a few extra details if a specific entry has a unique method to get it or if it can be crafted. Now, let us get to the actual list:

Axe #1 – The Broad Axe

First up, the Broad axe is a very basic weapon that is actually designed to be used as one rather than being a mere carpentry tool. As with most axes, it is best used against targets who wield shields or are wearing chain mail armor.

The highest tier of it has a slash of 99 and a blunt of 68, with absolutely no stab rating, since you do not really do that with an axe anyway. It boasts a high durability rating of 166, making it particularly sturdy compared to a lot of other weapons.

It is extremely common, and you can find one of these from blacksmiths all over the Kuttenberg and Trosky regions. A lot of NPCs also carry one, and even generic enemies are likely to drop one.

With the Sketch – Broad axe, which can be purchased from a wide range of blacksmiths and traders, you can craft one of these if you have the following materials:

  • 1x Fastening material
  • 2x Iron
  • 1x Steel

Axe #2 – The Skalitz Axe

The Skalitz axe is one that you can get for absolutely free very early into the game. Basically, once you gain access to free roam, look for a shed in the southwestern part of Troskowitz. The Skalitz axe can be found on a table and is completely free for you to grab.

It has a decent set of stats with its 85 slash and 43 blunt, as well as a respectable 98 durability. As it is quite literally a free item, it is definitely worth picking up even if you are already fairly far into the game.

This one is definitely more for those who are still just starting out, though. As the next three axes in this list will have drastically different and better stats.

Axe #3 – The Executioner’s Axe

Next is the Executioner’s axe, which is not quite like the long ones used in public executions, but still a powerful tool to add to your arsenal. Like the broad axe, it is designed specifically to be a weapon rather than a working man’s tool.

Despite its pointy tip, it still has a zero stab rating, while the highest tier version boasts a slash of 114 and blunt sitting at around 57. This makes it a pretty significant step up from the very first example here. It also has the highest durability out of all the useful axes.

Henry can craft this as well, though the Sketch – Executioner’s axe can be found from one of the traders with randomized stocks. As such, it might take a bit of luck to make your own. If you have managed to get the recipe, here are the materials you will need:

  • 2x Iron
  • 1x Toledo Steel

If you would rather buy it off of somebody, various traders in Trosky and Kuttenberg can have them in stock too. It seems to be more common in Kuttenberg, though, so you might have a hard time getting one outside of that region.

KCD2 Axe #3

Axe #4 – The Horseman’s Pick

Next is the Horseman’s pick, which is another clear step up from the previous entry of the list. Although it is good, its description can be a bit misleading as it keeps bringing up the spike behind the main axe blade, which does exist, but has no practical function.

You see, its stats are 129 slash, 64 blunt, but a zero in stab just like all the other axes in the list so far. With that said, as far as axes go, it is still one of the best options so far.

You can purchase this weapon off various blacksmiths, and it is much more common within the Kuttenberg region. Some enemies might carry it around too, though you are probably better off making or buying one.

On that note, the Sketch – Horseman’s pick item can potentially be found from one of the roaming traders or in chests within the Kuttenberg region. To craft one, you will need the following materials:

  • 1x Fastening material
  • 1x Frankfurt steel
  • 2x Iron
KCD2 Axe #4

Axe #5 – The Knight’s Axe

Finally, the Knight’s axe is the best axe in the game and actually does have a functional pointy bit, unlike the previous one in this list. Due to how powerful it is in comparison to the others, it is also the most expensive one of its kind.

It has a slash of 129, 64 blunt, 40 stab, and a whopping 215 durability, making it particularly sturdy as well. It can be found from various traders and blacksmiths within the Kuttenberg region, though there might be one you can find in Trosky as well.

It can also be crafted, and the Sketch – Knight’s axe item can be found from a roaming trader as well, with the same odds of the recipe being in stock as the other entries above. It can also be found in various chests throughout the region of Kuttenberg.

In order to craft one of these, you will need the following materials:

  • 1x Copper
  • 1x Fastening material
  • 2x Iron
  • 2x Toledo steel
KCD2 Axe #5

And that wraps it up for this list, as there are not really a lot of axes in the game, and at least half of them is not even worth mentioning due to how low their stats are. It is far from the best type of weapon you can use, but they are certainly pretty fun to swing around!
