If you got a spade or shovel in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 but can’t figure out how to use it, you’ve come to the right place.

As it turns out, the spade in this game can’t be equipped or used manually at all. You can only use it at designated digging spots across the land! It would look bad if Henry was just digging holes wherever he pleases, it seems…

Read on and we’ll give you more details on what exactly to look out for when you wish to do some digging!

How To Use Your Shovel or Spade | Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

If you already have a spade or a shovel in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, you can only use it at specific spots. You can’t use it to dig up holes willy-nilly! Instead, you want to look for spots where it looks like the dirt has been tampered with. These should look somewhat like the example above.

Once you get to one of those spots, you will get a prompt to dig it up as long as you keep a spade in your inventory. The exact prompt depends on what type of spot it is, though. It can be something like “Start Digging” or “Rob the Grave”, for example. Just press the button corresponding with the prompt and Henry will do all the work!

If you do not have a spade currently, you can buy them from various traders. Alternatively, you can find a free spade at the Troskowitz Cemetery early in the game. There are other spots to get it, but that’s the easiest and earliest one we’ve found.

Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know to be able to use your spade or shovel in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. In summary, keep it in your inventory and you’ll get a prompt to use it at designated digging spots. It’s as simple as that!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
