Enchanted items in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered require you to recharge them every now and then, as their magical energy runs dry.

When an Enchanted item has no more magical energy left, its Enchantment will stop taking effect. Thankfully, recharging them isn’t too hard, as long as you know how to… which is what we’re here for!

Read on and we’ll tell you every known way of recharging Enchanted items in the game.

How To Recharge Enchanted Magical Items | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

There are two main ways to recharge Enchanted gear. The first one is to get someone else to do it for you. An easy NPC to reach for this method is Aurelinwae at the Mystic Emporium in the Imperial City’s Market District. We’ve marked her location on the map above.

Simply talk with her and select Recharge Weapons on the bottom left corner of the screen to do it. You’ll be able to choose which items to recharge, with the downside being that you have to pay a service fee in Gold.

However, this is really suboptimal and expensive in the long run. If you have no other options, though, it’s good enough!

Soul Trapping and Soul Gems

The second method, which is generally the preferred one, is to recharge items yourself. You can do so by using Soul Gems. Soul Gems are plentiful all over Cyrodiil, you can often get them as loot all over the place. They’re also sold by magic-related merchants, such as the Mages’ Guild members.

Alternatively, you can also get Azura’s Star by following the Blood of the Daedra quest to Azura’s Shrine. This Daedric Artifact works as a reusable Soul Gem, making it highly valuable!

However, most Soul Gems you find will be empty. You’ll need to fill them by defeating enemies with the Soul Trap spell. If you don’t have that spell, check out our guide on where to buy it. It’s an Apprentice-level Mysticism spell, so you’ll need to have Level 25 Mysticim to be able to cast it. Some equipment might also have Soul Trap as an Enhancement, as well.

Either way, deal the killing blow to an enemy with Soul Trap in effect and their soul will be captured into the lowest-tier empty Soul Gem possible. Different enemies will have different levels of Souls, with common critters like rats being the worst you can get. You’ll need bigger Soul Gems for more powerful Souls, too!

Once you’ve successfully filled up a Soul Gem, go into your inventory and find the charged Soul Gem. Use it and you’ll be able to then select which Enchanted equipment to recharge. The level of charge will vary based on what Souls you use.

That’s all there is to this system! You now know how to recharge your Enchanted items whenever you wish in Oblivion Remastered. Make sure to carry a decent supply of charged Soul Gems wherever you go.

Gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
