If you wish to beat Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to learn how to equip Decorations.
Decorations are a special type of item that you can slot into your armor and weapons. Every Decoration provides special Skills, which can completely define your playstyle. These can range from straightforward attack boosts to more niche Skills, such as the ability to completely ignore ground tremors. Having the right Decorations for the right hunt is key!
In this simple guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to equip and change your Decorations whenever you wish.
How to Equip Decorations | Monster Hunter Wilds
You can equip Decorations in Monster Hunter Wilds from the “Change Equipment” menu. You can access this menu either at the Smithy or while you’re at a Camp.
When you’re in the Change Equipment interface, press right on the DPad (controller) or theD key (keyboard and mouse).
You can now see all of the empty Decoration slots on all of your current equipment. Modifiable slots will be highlighted, as shown above. Just select the one you wish to add Decorations to and then select the Decoration you wish to equip.
If you can’t add any Decorations, make sure that your equipment actually has Decoration Slots. You can see available slots under your equipment’s info. If you see “– – –“, that means there are no Decoration Slots. Different equipment has different numbers and levels of slots, so keep that in mind!
Now, there are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to Decorations. The first one is that they come in different levels. This is shown by the “[X]” number next to each Decoration’s name. You can also tell a Decoration’s level by its icon, just look at the smaller triangles at the bottom. For example, 1 triangle means it’s a Level 1 Decoration. The Decoration Slots have to be of the same level as the Decoration you wish to equip, like in the example above.
Additionally, Monster Hunter Wilds splits the types of Decorations you can equip. Unlike in previous games, Decorations are either specifically for weapons or armor. You can see what type of equipment the Decoration is for by the tiny icon on the top right of each one. A helmet shape means it’s for armor, while a sword shape means it’s for weapons.
That’s all you need to know to equip Decorations. Speaking of equipment, it’s a good idea to learn about Artian Weapons, as well!
