Hard West 2 is a turn-based tactical combat game. You will be given control to four gunslingers, taking turns to shoot or use supernatural skills. The primary goal is to track down a mysterious ghost train by doing missions. We will show you what you should know about the world of Hard West 2.

Beginner’s Guide for Hard West 2

Hard West 2 will allow you to command four gunslingers. These gunslingers are immortal, and when you finish a mission and one of these gunslingers dies in the next task, they will be resurrected with one health point.

Action Points

In battle, you will have three action points at every turn, consummable by moving and shooting. Shooting a pistol or shotgun consumes two action points. Shooting from rifle units will consume three action points.

Change your weapon when you move your character and have a rifle equipped. Changing weapons will not consume action points. You will get all the action points back when you make a kill.

Companions and Relationships

You can talk to your companion at the campsite to increase your relationship. Doing this will unlock the companion’s backstory; the more your relationship grows, the more backstory you will unlock.

During adventures, there are encounters where companions will give opinions. Some opinions will require a certain level of loyalty, which is why it is best to make all your companions as loyal as possible.

Top Tips in Hard West 2

Below are some helpful tips:

  • In Hard West 2, characters do not level up; instead, you can equip them with weapons, consumables, and trinkets.
  • The thing that matters is your deck of cards, each character can carry five cards. Cards give bonuses and skills.
  • Do a combination to unlock powerful effects. The more powerful combinations you do, the stronger the skills and bonuses you can receive.
  • The game has a luck meter, which, when having it, will allow you to dodge bullets and make a perfect shot. Zero luck will make your enemy never miss a shot, even in cover. Getting hit by an enemy will recover some luck. Use your luck well by managing it.
  • Advantage will always be on your enemy’s side, and you will always be outnumbered. That’s why it’s important you always take cover in the game. Never gather all your characters in one place.
  • Always find a way to flank your opponents.
  • When doing a ricochet, the things that you try to ricochet can break down, making your character entirely open to the enemies.
  • Always bring consumables as much as you can. There will be no doctors or healers on your team. Getting bandages and whiskeys will help you in the long run.
  • When you travel on the world map, certain encounters require a specific item. With the help of these items, you will unlock secret locations that will give you good loot.
