God of War Ragnarok Top Biggest Mistakes to Avoid

Saying God of War Ragnarok is a massive game is a bit of an understatement. So it’s pretty understandable that you’ll make certain mistakes during your first playthrough.

That said, if you’re planning to play God of War Ragnarok for the second time, or if it’s your first time doing so, then avoiding huge mistakes will improve your overall gaming experience.

Let’s find out what those mistakes are in this article.

Top Biggest Mistakes to Avoid in God of War Ragnarok

Chances are, you have committed a few of these mistakes when playing Ragnarok for the first time. But if you’re a first-time player, then you’d do best to avoid committing any of the following:

Skipping Side Content

If you’re the type of player who wants to speedrun through games, then you’ll most likely end up committing this mistake.

The beauty of Ragnarok is that there are lots of things to explore, and most of them are tied up to the game’s story and lore.

Not only that, but various side content can also provide you with unique gear and items you won’t get elsewhere.

Skipping side content would cause you to miss out on a huge chunk of the game. They will also offer you tidbits of the world’s lore which only further add up to your adventures.

Wasting Crafting Resources

It’s easy to fall into the trap of upgrading every gear you have in Ragnarok once you have obtained resources. However, resources in this game can be limited, and you’ll eventually find more gear out there during your adventures.

So instead of wasting your crafting resources, only use them on gear that you’d use for your build. For example, improving gear would further enhance the skills you use often.

Ignoring Environmental Advantage

You might not notice it at first, but there are actually lots of stuff in the environment that you can take advantage of during combat.

For example, collapsible pillars in certain areas will fall onto your enemies when knocked down. Another good example is those reflective surfaces that will ricochet your axe when thrown.

There are lots of these cool new additions to the game that you can exploit to make combat even more fun and varied.

Not Completing Draugr Holes

During your adventure across the realms, you will come across these Draugr holes. Activating the encounter will cause them to spawn Draugrs which you then have to defeat.

After successfully completing a Draugr hole, it will drop various resources including Chaos Sparks.

Once you accumulated 6 Chaos Sparks, you can combine them to make a Chaos Flame which you can then use to upgrade your weapon. Needless to say, the earlier you can upgrade your weapon, the easier your adventure will be.

Not Looting Chests

There are tons of loot that you can obtain throughout your playthrough. However, it wouldn’t be wise to skip on loot chests just because you think you have enough loot. You might not know it, but the chest you just skipped might have even more powerful gear you can use.

Chests can also contain crafting resources as well as other upgrades depending on their type. So, as much as possible, make sure to open every chest you can come across.

Forgetting to Revisit Puzzles

A lot of puzzles that you can encounter in your playthrough will grant you some nice rewards when solved. However, you might notice that you won’t be able to complete various puzzles or even interact with them. This is because you might not have the right tools or upgrades yet to solve them.

Most of them will require you to progress a bit further into the story. And once you’ve done so, make it a point to revisit them so you can finally attempt to solve them.
