Best Magic Weapons in Terraria

Source: Official Steam Page

There are a lot of magic weapons in Terraria, and some of them shine better when you have a specific build for the rest of your gear. Additionally, there’s player preference to account for.

All things considered, we’ve narrowed the selection down to 3 weapons: Life Drain, Sky Fracture, and Spirit Flame. Note that they’re all Hardmode weapons.

Let’s go over what makes each of these weapons special.

Life Drain

This weapon can be obtained pretty early into Hardmode. It’s also fairly easy to get, as you don’t even need to craft it!

The Life Drain has a 20% drop chance from Crimson Mimics, which are found in Underground Crimson biomes. These biomes appear once you enter Hardmode.

It has an infinite projectile range, so you can hit enemies across the screen as long as there aren’t obstructions. As its name implies, it also increases your Life Regen as it deals damage.

While the Life Drain is not super effective against bosses, it shines against large crowds of mobs. It can quickly evaporate hordes of enemies from a safe distance.

Sky Fracture

This weapon is crafted with 1 Magic Missile, 2 Light Shards, and 16 Souls of Light. The Magic Missile can be obtained pre-Hardmode, while the other materials can be obtained easily early in Hardmode.

The Sky Fracture is a sword that casts spirit swords as projectiles. The spirit swords appear at random spots close to your character and then shoot toward where you aim.

Each one of the projectiles has a ridiculously high crit chance of 24%. However, projectiles can only hit one enemy and have no piercing properties.

This weapon shines against single enemies but is also good against large groups as long as you stay mobile. It’s also super easy to craft, which makes it a very attractive option!

Spirit Flame

This weapon can be crafted with 1 Desert Spirit Lamp, 2 Forbidden Fragments, and 12 Souls of Night. All of these are only available in Hardmode.

When used, a small spirit flame will appear near your character. They then will instantly home in on any close-by enemies, though they will disappear within 3 seconds if there are no enemies to attack.

Additionally, the flame explodes on collision and deals some splash damage. To top it all off, it has a high firing rate.

The Spirit Flame excels against bosses, but it’s good against regular enemies as well. It’s a good all-around weapon for every situation.
