In a recent Steam post, Firaxis revealed its future plans for Civilization 7. Specifically, this plan will be about introducing a feature that’s been highly requested by fans of the series for years.

This feature is none other than the option to play as one civ from the start of the game all the way to the end.

In case you haven’t played Civ 7 yet, it basically has the Ages system where you choose a new civilization to lead in the next age. With this future update, however, you’ll be able to play that one civ you chose from the start all the way to the end.

It’s important to note that there’s no set date as to when this will get released. As Firaxis pointed out in their post, they’re still playtesting ways to implement this feature.

According to them, “we’re internally playtesting ways to play as one civ continuously through the Ages, allowing you to choose a civilization from any Age and guide them throughout your journey through history.”

Basically, what Firaxis plans on doing is to give players a chance to experience said feature, which is already present in older Civilization games.

However, while the older games have Ages, each Civ isn’t tied to a specific age to match their actual point in history, which is something that Civilization 7 has.

How this Update will Potentially Get Implemented into the Game

Firaxis hasn’t provided an explanation on how this feature will work. Instead, they ask the players to “please imagine a big “subject to change” stamp on everything here.”

At the same time, they’re also inviting everyone to help them shape what the mechanics will look like in Civilization 7. And this is through the Firaxis Feature Workshop which they’ll be introducing a few months from now.

It’s essentially a way of allowing a select few to go hands-on with the features while they’re still in the development phase.

This way, Firaxis can gather some important player feedback to allow them to deliver the best possible Civ 7 experience.

As of now, they don’t have the details for it yet, but they urge people to stay tuned to their Discord for more details to be released alongside the next update.

They’ve also outlined some of the new content players will be expecting in their 1.3.0 update, which will release on November 3.
