Deconstructing is fairly important in The Planet Crafter. Deconstructing structures you find, such as from wreckages, is a good source of resources. Alternatively, you might find that you need to move or replace a structure you already placed. You’ll need to deconstruct it to do so.
How to Deconstruct or Replace Structures in The Planet Crafter
Deconstructing and replacing structures can be done fairly early in The Planet Crafter. The first thing you’ll have to do is to craft the Deconstruction microchip. This can be done from the basic crafting station you start with. It requires 1 Silicon and 1 Magnesium, both of which are easy to find around the starting point.
Simply interact with the crafting station and craft the microchip when you have the resources. Now open your inventory and click on the deconstruction microchip to equip it. Now you can just use your mouse wheel to switch between tools until you get to the deconstruction tool.
With your tool in deconstruction mode, simply look at whichever structure you wish to deconstruct and press the left click. The structure will be quickly dismantled and you’ll get its raw resources back. You can now just replace it or move it by building it somewhere else.
A small note here is that you can’t deconstruct if your inventory doesn’t have space for the raw resources. Say you want to deconstruct something that used up 2 Iron and 2 Silicon to make. You’ll need 4 empty slots in your inventory. Otherwise, you’ll be unable to deconstruct. Storage containers can only be deconstructed if they are empty, also.
