When you accept the quest, you’ll notice on the map the area where the deer can be found – in that region of the map, there is a river where you’ll often find these deer drinking.

Nearby, you’ll find a tower set up where you can set up a proper lung shot and hide yourself away from the deer.

There are some other factors you’ll have to keep in mind as well when hunting this deer.

As a Mule Deer, you should opt for a rifle within the range of 1,576-3,783 Joules. Utilizing a scope that has a high-quality distance image is also recommended since you’ll be on the lookout for a specific deer with an abnormal signifying feature – its antler.

Mule Deer will approach the water around 0900, so ensure you set-up before then to have an overlooking shot.

Once you’ve found and spotted the deer, be patient and wait for a solid shot. You’ll want to set-up so you can visibly see the whole length of the deer from your standing position. Aim down for a lung shot, which will be the best method for appropriately taking down this target. The placement of their lungs, if you’re not sure, is typically toward the back of their front legs. Aim to shoot there. If you know you were successful in your shot, just let them fall so you can harvest them.
